Gdańsk University – RESBIOS – new project under Horizon 2020 programme
The RESBIOS project (RESponsible research and innovation grounding practices in BIOSciences), which is a reference to the STARBIOS2 project already implemented at the University of Gdańsk under the Horizon 2020 programme, aims to develop guidelines and create a model of the RRI concept (Responsible Research and Innovation) for research institutions in the field of biology and other related sciences.
The main objective of the new project is to implement RRI practices, on the basis of the experience gained through the STARBIOS2 project, in five new research organisations from different countries through a dedicated package of actions. The activity will result in the institutional changes of these organisations in five key areas of RRI, e.g. social engagement, education, gender equality, open access, ethics. Selected STARBIOS2 project partners, who have been implementing RRI action plans in their institutions leading to structural change, will take on the role of “mentors” to “beginner” partners and as experienced organisations will provide advice, examples and support.
The project will be implemented by the consortium coordinated by Tor Vergata University in Rome which includes 12 partners from 11 countries. It will last three years. The budget of the Project amounts to EUR 1.5 million.
The Project Manager on the side of the University of Gdańsk is prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Bielawski – Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation with Business and Industry from the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk.
