Gdynia Maritime University – 102 years of the University

The ceremony of the Maritime University of Gdynia began punctually at 8:00 am with the raising of the Polish flag in front of the University.

The ceremonial session of the UMG Senate was held at 11:00. The meeting of the UMG Senate was attended by members of the Senate, representatives of the University Council and invited guests.

JM Rector prof. Adam Weintrit spoke about the University’s successes and its strong position in the world. The next two years of the Rector’s term of office will be focused on the internationalization of the University and the expansion of the University’s activities in the international environment. Prof. Weintrit spoke about offshore wind energy, which has entered the sphere of activity of the University. Gdynia Maritime University is building an Offshore Centre. It will be the seat of the Maritime Institute and the Maritime Wind Energy Center established by the University.

Gdynia Maritime University and Polish Baltic Shipping
cooperation agreement was signed. The document was signed by: JM Rector prof. dr hab. Eng. Capt. Adam Weintrit and Andrzej Madejski, President of the Polish Baltic Shipping Company.

The Maritime University Day is solemnly celebrated by professors and students every year on December 8. On December 8, 1920, the ceremonial inauguration of the first school year at the newly opened Maritime School took place in Tczew. The Polish flag was raised in front of the building of the Maritime School in Tczew. After the ceremony, the school authorities and invited guests and students sat down to a formal dinner. For dinner was roast goose.
