Remontowa Shipbuilding – a Polish minehunter was launched in Gdańsk

ORP Jaskółka (604) is the fourth Kormoran II-class minehunter to join the Polish Navy. The naming of the Polish Navy ship and its launching took place at the Remontowa Shipbuilding shipyard.
Janusz Dilling, head of the Warship Supervision Service of the Polish Register of Shipping, presented Dariusz Jaguszewski with a certificate of readiness for the launching unit.
The project 258 minehunter is a 58.5 m long ship with a displacement of 900 tons. The crew consists of 45 people. The ship has a speed of 15 knots. The operational range is 2,500 nautical miles.
The ship’s godmother, Małgorzata Zdonek, wife of Cadm. in rest Krzysztof Zdonek, uttered the traditional formula: “Sail on the seas and oceans of the world, praise the name of the Polish shipbuilder and Polish sailor. I name you Swallow.” The naming ceremony was completed by the traditional breaking of a champagne bottle on the hull. A ceremony celebrating the release of confetti.

Jarosław Ziemiański, director of the Department of Command over the Armed Forces, Cdm. Jarosław Wypijewski, head of the Armament Board of the Naval Inspectorate, Cdm. Włodzimierz Kulagin, commander of the 3rd Cadet Ship Flotilla. Andrzej Ogrodnik, commander of the 8th Cadet Flotilla. Piotr Sikora, deputy commander of the Maritime Operations Center – Maritime Component Command, Cdm. Wojciech Sowa, head of the Maritime Technology Headquarters of the Armament Agency, Commander Piotr Skóra, commander of the 12th Minesweeper Squadron of the 8th FOW, Commander Lt. Sławomir Góra, and 2nd Lt. Cmdr. Kamil Kalina, future commander of ORP Jaskółka. Also present were representatives of the shipbuilding industry, shipyard workers and other entities involved in the construction of the minehunter.
