The Port of Gdansk transshipment terminals transshipped 38.1 million tons of cargo In the first half of 2024, the main cargo was liquid fuels, which account for almost 53 percent of total transshipments. General cargo transshipments came second. General cargo was transshipped mainly at the Baltic Hub terminal. The supply of coal in imports decreased.
– Nearly 40 million tonnes of cargo is a good result, considering that due to the geopolitical situation over the last two years, we have had an unusual increase in the transshipment of energy raw materials, including coal – said Dorota Pyć, President of the Port of Gdansk Authority.
Liquid fuel transshipment in the Port of Gdansk amounted to 20.1 million tons in the first 6 months of this year. This is 10 percent more year-on-year. Liquid fuel transshipment was mainly performed by Naftoport. The terminal handled 253 tankers and transshipped 19.8 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products. General cargo transshipment amounted to approx. 11.6 million tons, up 4.5 percent year-on-year. 10.2 million tons of general cargo were transshipped in containers, mainly in import. An increase in supply of nearly 3 percent was achieved. Baltic Hub transshipped over 1 million TEU containers in the first half of this year. Over 1.5 million tons of grain were transshipped in grain terminals, mainly in export relations. This was 10 percent more grain than in the same period last year. Over 63 thousand cars and other rolling cargo were transshipped in ro-ro terminals.
