Pomeranian industrial and scientific hubs for the future

The Pomeranian energy hub, maritime logistics hub, ship production for the offshore industry, quantum computer, federalization of leading universities, construction of a new opera house and establishment of a metropolis – these are key development activities for Pomerania.

The development goals of Pomerania will be implemented by representatives of science, politics and business. The Team of Economic Advisors at the Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology will coordinate work in 7 development areas. Experts from leading Pomeranian companies, scientists from Gdańsk University of Technology and University of Gdańsk were invited to the group of advisors. The inaugural meeting of the team took place on October 10 in the Senate Hall of Gdańsk University of Technology.

  

Poltechniak Gdańska and the Employers of Pomerania organization inaugurated a series of meetings in April 2024. The aim of the meetings is to identify economic challenges important for the development of the region and to strengthen the competitiveness of the Polish economy. It is also intended to obtain financial support for the implementation of strategic challenges.
After the meetings, the report “Key development challenges of Pomerania” was developed. It contains seven key areas of activity important for the development of the region:

  • Pomeranian energy hub – leader of the green energy transformation,
  • Maritime logistics hub – increasing the availability and transshipment capacity of sea ports,
  • Shipyards producing ships for offshore and Oil & Gas transport,
  • Pomeranian Center for Quantum Competences and Artificial Intelligence (AI),
  • Federalization of universities belonging to the Daniel Fahrenheit Association (GUMed, PG, UG),
  • Establishment of a metropolis in the Pomeranian Voivodeship,
  • Construction of a new seat of the Baltic Opera.
