Offshore Wind – Logistics & Supplies 2024 Conference – Summary

The Polish investment program in offshore wind farms, estimated at several hundred billion złoty. This is the largest investment in post-war Poland in the offshore industry. This is the largest element of Poland’s energy transformation program. The National Energy and Climate Plan assumes that in Poland in 2040, 136.9 TWh out of 195.3 TWh of total energy produced in the power industry will be supplied by wind farms. This will be 70% of total energy production.

“Building a strong supply chain for the offshore wind sector both in Poland and abroad is our common, well-understood interest and is a guarantee of the dynamic development of our economy and industry. By your actions, you demonstrate a deep understanding of this statement, for which we want to repay you as best as we can with dynamic activity in the area of promoting our sector in Poland, emphasizing primarily the development of the domestic industry in the country and abroad” – said Jakub Budzyński, President of the Management Board, Polish Chamber of Offshore Wind Energy, who summed up the conference.

Poland currently has no real alternative when it comes to non-emission and stable large-scale energy sources available in a short time. Offshore Wind Poland 2024 in Gdynia is the largest conference dedicated to offshore wind energy. It is attended by politicians, representatives of government and local government administration, maritime clusters, including the Baltic Maritime and Space Cluster. The most important participants are representatives of companies from the entire production chain of components for offshore wind farms. They are supported by representatives of universities and scientific institutes, such as the Maritime Institute in Gdańsk (Maritime University), where the offshore wind energy research center operates.

Europe will lack all key components for building offshore wind farms by 2030. Demand for services, technical workers and project managers will increase. China’s global supply of wind farm components, including generators, is growing. Deliveries of specialized vessels for building offshore wind farms from Chinese shipyards are growing.

The European Commission announces institutional and financial support for green investments. The idea is to increase the energy and economic security of the EU by building a resilient and competitive European production chain. Some of its elements are being created in Poland in Szczecin, Gdańsk, Gdynia and Świnujscie.
