Gdynia Maritime University celebrated the School Day

The academic community of the Maritime University in Gdynia celebrated the anniversary of the beginning of the Polish Maritime School on December 9th. This day is celebrated as the School Day. The ceremony began with the raising of the flag on the main building of the University. There was a ceremonial session of the Senate of the Maritime University.

The Polish Maritime School began operating 104 years ago in Tczew. Students raised the Polish flag on the Maritime School building. In this way, they emphasized that the Maritime School had begun its operations. Many students of the Polish Maritime School returned from the Polish-Russian War. They participated in the defense of Poland from the aggression of the Bolsheviks, who attacked Warsaw with the slogan of exporting the revolution to Europe.

His Magnificence the Rector of the Maritime University of Gdynia, Prof. Dr. Hab. Eng. Captain Adam Weintrit, after welcoming all the participants of the event, delivered a special speech.

Gdynia Maritime University signed a research and development cooperation agreement with the Firefighting Academy in Warsaw. The agreement was signed by: His Magnificence Rector, Prof. Dr. Hab. Eng. Capt. Adam Weintrit, Rector Commandant, Prof. Senior Brigadier, Dr. Eng. Tomasz Klimczak.

The ceremony was attended by academic staff and students of the Maritime University, representatives of business and administration, and members of parliament. Special guests included: Dr. Arkadiusz Marchewka – Secretary of State in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Emil Rojek, Pomeranian Voivode, Aleksandra Kosiorek, Mayor of Gdynia.
