I3-4 BLUE GROWTH PROJECT MEETING, VAASA FINLAND, MERINOVA

On the 10th and 11th of December, the first planned ecosystem visit was hosted by Technology Centre Merinova Oy in Vaasa, Finland. More than 30 participants navigated Baltic Sea waters in a brand new ferryboat – Aurora Botnia. This Wasaline‘s new ferry is powered by dual fuel and battery solutions, primarily uses LNG and can also use biogas. Aurora Botnia is a modern ship that truly represents the innovative energy ecosystem in Vaasa.

An hybrid workshop – “Building innovative sustainable solutions through collaborations: from purpose to impact” – took place in a comfortable meeting room of Aurora Botnia Ferry with an inspiring view of Baltic Sea as participants learned about best practices in maritime decarbonisation and keys to successful, purpose-driven projects.

The two days were full of activities to foster knowledge transfer across project promoters and tech providers in targeted regions:
– cross-country interactions, B2B meetings, and matchmaking activities;
– workshop and presentations of projects and local organisations;
– field visits.

During the ecosystem visit to Vaasa, participants deeply got in touch with novel solutions, technological solutions and, ongoing projects on energy and maritime decarbonisation that can support the development of their projects in regions where the specific value chain is less developed.

… and it was not forgotten the traditional Finnish sauna experience! ❄️
