Pomeranian Special Economic Zone is a leader in Poland
The Pomeranian Special Economic Zone (PSEZ), member of the Baltic Sea and Space Cluater, is strengthening its leading position among the companies managing the Polish Investment Zone. In 2024, it achieved a historic result by issuing a record 98 support decisions. The total value of declared investment expenditures exceeded PLN 2.8 billion. The investments will contribute to the creation of 541 new jobs and the maintenance of over 14,000 positions.
The Pomeranian Special Economic Zone is one of the key players in Poland in supporting investments and regional development, and this is proven by the company’s impressive summary of 2024. PSEZ has not only maintained its leading position among the managers of the Polish Investment Zone, but also consistently implements its mission, supporting both large enterprises and small and medium-sized companies. The zone strives to ensure that every decision to support investment has a real impact on the economic development of the region, and especially on strengthening the SME sector, which is the foundation of the Polish economy. Of the 98 decisions issued in 2024, as many as 76 concerned small and medium-sized enterprises, which constitutes as many as 77% of all decisions. At the same time, large companies also took advantage of the zone’s offer – 22 decisions concerned investments by large enterprises, which shows the diversity of supported projects. The leaders of large investments in 2024 included: PESA Bydgoszcz, MM Kwidzyn, LPP Logistics and Tele-Fonika Kable.
The past year was a time of dynamic development and success for our investors. Thanks to the hard work of our Team and cooperation with entrepreneurs, partners and local governments, we achieved one of the best results in the history of our Zone. Of course, we are happy that we once again maintain the leading position among companies managing the Polish Investment Zone, but our priority is not only the number of decisions issued, but above all their quality. The number of investments carried out by small and medium-sized enterprises with Polish capital increases every year. Such projects play a key role in building a stable and sustainable economy, at the same time constituting the foundation for the economic development of regions – says Mirosław Kamiński, President of the Management Board of the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone.
Comparing last year to 2023, in which the Company issued 76 decisions on support and the declared investment outlay amounted to PLN 1.8 billion, the number of decisions increased by 29% and the value of declared investment outlays by 58%. This proves the growing confidence of investors and the effectiveness of the zone’s activities in attracting capital and creating new jobs.
PSEZ appreciated for its activities supporting the development of the economy
In 2024, it was recognized by awarding awards, among others, for the activities of the Company’s Gdańsk Science and Technology Park. The park was awarded the prestigious Porta In Posterum award for supporting economic growth and entrepreneurship development in the region. The company also won a distinction in the international fDi Global Free Zones ranking for sustainable innovation and in the Griffin Economic and Employer of Pomerania and Kujawy competitions.
PSEZ focuses on innovation
In the area of innovation, the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone launched strategic projects, such as the Acceleration Zone – Startup Booster, under which it obtained nearly PLN 17 million to support startups. An important step was also the launch of the Pomeranian Digital Innovation Hub, supporting digital transformation, and the continuation of the IDA 2024 program, supporting the defense sector. The projects are implemented in partnership with companies whose activities are very important for the Pomeranian and Kujawy regions, i.e. the area where the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone operates.
Education and competence development
The Pomeranian Special Economic Zone continued to develop the activities of the Industrial Robot Programming Center (CPRP), celebrating the fifth anniversary of its establishment in 2024. The Center, as a key element of the PSSE strategy, constantly supports the development of competences in the area of modern industrial technologies. Last year, the Company organized demonstration lessons for 2,153 people and conducted courses for 427 people. Additionally, PSSE took another step in the development of its educational projects by opening a new welding workshop using VR technology at CPRP in Gdańsk. This innovative venture allows training participants to acquire practical skills in a virtual environment, which responds to the growing needs of the labor market in the field of highly specialized professions. At the same time, PSEZ places great emphasis on lifelong learning, enabling adults to develop competences necessary in a changing economy. Thanks to the training offer tailored to the needs of local enterprises and global technological trends, the Zone supports not only young technology adepts, but also experienced employees who want to improve their qualifications or acquire new skills. This approach strengthens the region’s position as a dynamic center of education and innovation.
PSEZ plans for 2025
– Our plans for 2025 are extremely ambitious. We want to continue the development of projects related to green energy and digitalization, encourage more Polish companies to reinvest and attract foreign investors. All this with a view to building a strong and competitive economy in Poland. We place particular emphasis on preparing new investment areas tailored to the needs of entrepreneurs. To this end, we plan to tighten cooperation with the government, local governments and other companies managing the Polish Investment Zone, proposing changes to regulations and new support tools. Our vision of development includes solutions that can make the management of state lands more dynamic, enabling their faster adaptation to the needs of investors – emphasizes Mirosław Kamiński, President of the Management Board of PSEZ.
As the President notes, the situation on the global market is extremely dynamic and requires constant adaptation – Poland must compete with other regions in the world, which is why it is so important that instruments such as the Polish Investment Zone respond to the changing expectations of investors. Cooperation with the Ministry of Development and Technology and other companies managing the Polish Investment Zone is crucial so that we can jointly shape attractive investment conditions, adds Kamiński.
Energy issues are also an important challenge that investors pay attention to – the Green Deal, energy costs and the development of future technologies, such as offshore and nuclear energy, are key topics. I am glad that the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone plays such an important role in this process, supporting the energy transformation and creating new development opportunities in northern Poland. It is thanks to these trends that we managed to achieve such significant success in 2024 and issue a record number of investment support decisions – summarizes President Kamiński.
