DeCoInter project launched. South Baltic seaports on decarbonisation course

Pomeranian Voivodeship Today we officially launched the international project DeCoInter – Decarbonization of the maritime sector and its impact on the green energy transformation. The project was inaugurated by Leszek Bonna – president of the Baltic-Adriatic Association and vice-marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.

This is an important step towards the green transformation of the seaports of the South Baltic, implemented thanks to the cooperation of partners from five countries and the support of the European Union under the Interreg South Baltic Programme 2021 – 2027.

The DeCoInter Project aim is to implement green technologies and alternative fuels in ports. Funding: EUR 1.7 million. The project partners are: the Association of Polish Regions of the Baltic-Adriatic Transport Corridor as the Lead Partner, ports, universities and business environment institutions from Poland, Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.

The first day included presentations and discussions during which the DeCoInter project objectives, work packages and project implementation milestones were presented.

During the second day inaugurating the DeCoInter project – Decarbonisation of the maritime sector and its impact on the green energy transformation, a study visit was held at the Port of Gdansk, in particular at the Baltic Hub.

Project partners from Poland, Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark and Germany had the opportunity to learn about the port infrastructure and expansion plans of the Baltic Hub during a study visit to the Port of Gdańsk. Future activities related to decarbonization and implementation of renewable energy sources in the Port of Gdańsk were presented.
