DEBUTING – RoboTech Girls in TRANSYLVANIA

RoboTech Girls, a good practice presented by Grand Est Development, France, will be implemented by the North-West Regional Development Agency, Romania, as a pilot project. The pilot aims to inspire girls to pursue a career in STEM and digital industries.
Starting in September 2025, 42 Interreg Europe pilot actions across 15 countries will be implemented. These initiatives will test new approaches inspired by good practices and lessons learned through interregional knowledge exchange among project partners in Interreg Europe projects.
One of these approved pilot actions comes from within DEBUTING project consortium; RoboTech Girls in Transylvania will be implemented by the North-West Regional Development Agency from Romania based on a best practice shared by Grand Est Development from France.
A true showcase of European cooperation in action: learning from success stories and turning shared knowledge into real regional impact! The pilot is inspired by the best practice RoboTech Girls from Grand Est Region in France, shared by Grand Est Development during the study visit organized in Strasbourg in 2023 and published in the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform.

Running in France since 2019, this initiative tackles the critical issue of female underrepresentation in digital and technical fields. It equips middle and high school girls with essential skills, provides mentorship and training, and actively challenges gender stereotypes to inspire future careers in tech industry.

This is the first initiative in North-West Romania to focus exclusively on female pupils in the context of STEM and digital education—a significant step, as the country currently ranks last in the EU Gender Equality Index. The pilot will give selected girls from the North-West Region the opportunity to engage in hands-on workshops and mentorship activities, introducing them to emerging technologies and future career paths in STEM. Designed to promote equitable access to technical education, the program supports the long-term goal of increasing female participation in the digital economy.
