Gdańsk University of Technology and Hanwha Ocean have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) covering research collaboration on the safety and effectiveness of submarine operations in ice-covered waters, including the Arctic.

Gdańsk University of Technology will act as an advisory partner in the project, conducted by Hanwha Ocean in collaboration with the Finnish company Aker Arctic Technology Oy. The university’s scope of activities includes:

  • verification of model research methodology,
  • assessment of ice simulation parameters for the Baltic Sea,
  • support in the analysis of test results,

• the possibility of extending the collaboration to subsequent stages of the project.
