The launch of ORP Wicher, the first warship in the “Miecznik” series, is scheduled for August 2026. The “Miecznik” program is the largest shipbuilding program for the Polish Navy.

Three modern multi-role frigates are being built at the Gdynia Naval Shipyard. The new warships will be delivered to the Polish Navy between 2029 and 2031. The ships will serve as part of the Combat Ship Squadron of the 3rd Ship Flotilla, and will be based at the Gdynia Naval Port. The “Miecznik” program is a modern multi-role frigate based on the Arrowhead 140 platform, which is the basis for the British Type 31 frigates.
