PGZ Stocznia Wojenna will build a rescue vessel for the Polish Navy under the “Rescuer” program. The Baltic Sea and Space Cluster is the promoter of this project. The new vessel will be a key element of the Polish Navy and NATO submarine support system. The vessel will be a key element of maritime rescue operations in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone and the Polish Navy’s operational zone.

The rescue vessel for the Polish Navy, being built under the “Ratownik” program, will be 96 meters long, 19 meters wide, and have a displacement of 6,500 tons. The “Ratownik” will be one of the largest rescue vessels in the Baltic Sea region. The Polish Navy’s rescue vessel will have three times the displacement of the currently in service ORP Piast and ORP Lech (1,800 tons).
The “Ratownik” will have a range of 6,000 nautical miles at economical speed. The “Ratownik” will be able to conduct multi-week operations without refueling, covering the entire Baltic Sea and a significant portion of the North Sea. The “Ratownik” will have an autonomy of 30-40 days, allowing for long-term rescue or monitoring missions without the need to return to base.
The crew of 100 plus nine additional specialists includes officers, sailors, advanced rescue system operators, deep-sea divers, medical personnel and underwater drone operators.
