ECHOGRAM – Advancing Bathymetric Data Processing with AI-Powered GIS Tools

Advancing Bathymetric Data Processing with AI-Powered GIS Tools
Modern bathymetric survey methods generate massive point cloud datasets that require efficient and accurate processing to produce detailed bathymetric maps.
At Echogram S.C., we’ve developed a suite of AI-powered tools integrated into our GIS software environment to automate data processing and deliver high-quality results to our clients faster than ever before.
AI models are implemented as custom GIS extensions, built in Microsoft .NET 6.0, and designed to streamline key steps in the workflow, including:
• 🧩 Adding AI-generated text fields (metadata) based on existing attributes;
• 🗺️ Extracting map information and thematic layers and exporting them to SHP/DXF/ XML;
• 🐍 Generating Python code for automated map labeling customization;
• 🧠 Creating new AI-derived object layers using user interface prompts or XML metadata;
• 🔠 Converting raster text to numerical or textual data for analysis.
As a result, our clients receive bathymetric plans, differential maps, and seabed object detection reports in a fraction of the time — all powered by intelligent automation and cutting-edge GIS integration.
At Echogram S.C., we continue to push the boundaries of AI and geospatial innovation, bringing clarity and precision to the underwater world.

As part of the development of new hydrotechnical infrastructure in Puck, Echogram carried out a pre-construction hydrographic survey.
The scope of work included:
📍 MBES (Multibeam Echosounder) measurements for areas with depth >1m (IHOSP44 exclusive order)
📍 SBES (Single Beam Echosounder) measurements mounted on a USV for areas shallower than 1 m.
This comprehensive approach ensured full coverage and high data accuracy across both deeper and very shallow zones — supporting safe and efficient project planning for the upcoming construction works.
