The Remontowa Shipyard delivered the Ro-Pax to Unity Line

The M/F Jantar Unity ferry has completed shipyard work and technical acceptance. The vessel will carry cargo and passengers on the Świnoujście-Trelleborg route. The Remontowa Shipyard engaged Polish contractors to build the ferry. The Polish local content involved in the ferry’s construction included a number of subcontractors, including Marine Projects, Montex, Remontowa Shipbuilding, Holm, and Stal Complex.

The M/F Jantar Unity is the first of three ferries being built in Poland. The vessel has a hybrid propulsion system. It uses four dual-fuel engines powered by LNG and diesel fuel for ignition. Powering the engines with gas will reduce CO2 emissions by about one-quarter compared to solutions currently used in similar units, the design office informs.

The engines are battery-assisted. These four engines provide a maximum speed of 19 knots. The ferry is powered by two azimuth thrusters at the stern. Two bow thrusters are used during maneuvers at the ferry terminal. More ferries are under construction. The second ferry has been launched and is being equipped with loading facilities, navigation and machinery equipment, and cabins.

The shipowner is scheduled to make its first voyages in 2027. The third Ro-Pax will be delivered to the shipowner in 2028. The ferries are financed by the Polish government, which allocated PLN 1.3 billion for production at a Polish private shipyard owned by Remontowa Holding. The ferries will sail under the POLSCA Baltic Ferries brand. This company was founded by Polish state-owned shipowners: Polferries, Unity Line, and the privately owned Euroafrica.
