Port of Gdansk – 80.4 million tonnes in 2025

The Port of Gdansk’s fuel, bulk, and general cargo terminals handled a total of 80.4 million tons of goods in 2025. This represents an increase of almost 4% compared to 2024, when the transshipment volume reached 77.4 million tons. Today, the Port of Gdansk is the most dynamically developing port in the region. The Port of Gdansk terminals are a strategic logistics link for Central and Eastern European markets.

The Port of Gdansk terminals handled a total of 4,394 ships. This represents a 4.2% increase year-on-year. The fuel, bulk, and container terminals handled 3,650 commercial vessels. This was 2.5% more in 2025 than in 2024. The average gross vehicle weight of commercial vessels increased by 3.8%. This means that increasingly larger vessels are entering the Port of Gdansk with crude oil and bulk cargo shipments. Ocean-going container ships, the largest vessels capable of entering the Baltic Sea, are arriving at the Baltic Hub container terminal.

Liquid fuels dominate Gdańsk.
In 2025, the fuel terminal accepted 39.6 million tons of imports. Liquid cargo accounted for 49.3% of the Port of Gdańsk’s total transshipment volume. Crude oil transshipment reached 37.4 million tons in 2025 (36.6 million in 2024). Naftoport received 379 ships carrying crude oil and 84 ships carrying petroleum products at its unloading berths. The Northern Port in Gdańsk is a strategically important port, playing a key role in securing the supply of energy resources to Poland and the Central European region.

Large Transshipments of Containers and General Cargo
Nearly 2.8 million TEU were transshipped at Gdańsk’s container terminals in 2025. This represents a 23% increase in container supply compared to 2024. The Baltic Hub Container Terminal handled almost 2,766,500 TEU using STS cranes. The weight of loaded containers increased by 18%, reaching 24 million tons.
General cargo is the second most important cargo group after crude oil in 2025. General cargo supply at the Port of Gdańsk terminals increased from 23.3 million tons in 2024 to 27.2 million tons in 2025, a 16.6% increase. The share of general cargo in total transshipment was 33.8%. Containerized cargo dominated.
