11th meeting of the Entrepreneurs’ Cluster operating at WIMiO

The 11th meeting of the Entrepreneurs’ Council (Entrepreneurs’ Cluster) operating at WIMiO (Faculty of Mechanical and Ship Engineering, Gdańsk University of Technology) took place on February 26 in Gdańsk. The event was attended by nearly 70 industry representatives, some of whom are members of the Baltic Maritime and Space Cluster, and most of whom operate within the Polish Maritime Cluster.

Horizon Europe implementation programs, obtaining EU funds for the modernization and internationalization of companies, and the use of augmented reality in CNC machine tool training were presented during the meeting of the Entrepreneurs’ Council (Entrepreneurs’ Cluster).

The meeting was opened by Professor Mariusz Deja, Dean of WIMiO, and Dr. Eng. Marek Chodnicki;, spoke about faculty projects and opportunities for company collaboration with the faculty; Renata Downar-Zapolska, M.A., presented Horizon Europe programs; prof. Marek GRZYBOWSKI of the Baltic Sea & Space Cluster, presented financing opportunities for company development and internationalization; Daniel Pawelec , ADM Consulting Group S.A., discussed changes to the SMART Program for 2026; Mateusz Nowakowski, discussed the activities of MESco sp. z o.o.. The meeting concluded with a presentation by President Piotr Kaliszczuk, Excento on cooperation between science and business.

Paweł Lulewicz, CEO of the Gdańsk University of Technology Business Hub, invited entrepreneurs to collaborate with professors and student research groups. Dr. Marek Chodnicki asked for feedback on issues related to implementing new technologies. Professor Mariusz Deja encouraged students to utilize the scientific potential of the faculty, workshops, and laboratories, which are equipped with unique research tools.

Thanks to the activities of the Entrepreneurs’ Council, students and scientists have the opportunity to complete internships and placements at developing companies. Managers offer students scholarships and participation in specialized training and courses. Managers submit engineering thesis topics that strongly relate to practice.

Entrepreneurs have the opportunity to participate in postgraduate studies, and students can take advantage of specialized industrial workshops.  Companies have the opportunity to employ qualified employees thanks to cooperation with Gdańsk University of Technology.
