The Port of Gdańsk is sixth in the European Union with over 80 million tonnes

Terminals and operating companies operating at the Port of Gdansk handled a total of 80.4 million tons of cargo in 2025. Gdansk has been ranked among the leading ports in the European Union. The Port of Gdansk ranks 8th in Europe and 6th in the European Union. In 2025, the Port of Gdansk moved up three places in the ranking of European ports for the transshipment of bulk cargo, oil, gas, fuels, and containers.

The busiest terminals were those handling crude oil and liquid fuels (39.6 million tons, a 0.4% increase). General cargo handling came in second. Cargo supply, primarily in containers, increased by 16.6% to 27.2 million tons. Container handling increased by a staggering 23% to 2.8 million TEU.

The Port of Rotterdam leads the ranking of European ports, handling 428.4 million tons of cargo in 2025. The Port of Antwerp-Bruges holds second place (266.35 million tons, a 4.03% drop). The Port of Hamburg also handles cargo for the European economy, ending the year with 114.61 million tons. The top five European ports include two Russian ports: Novorossiysk (168 million tons, a 1.94% increase) and Ust-Luga (130.5 million tons, a 3.33% drop).
