Port Hamburg in Gdańsk – „Ports in Dialogue” 2026

A delegation of the first Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Dr. Peter Tschentscher, and the Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Günther, visited Gdańsk on April 14, 2026. The meeting entitled “Ports in Dialogue: Resilience in Uncertain Times” was attended by the leaders of the ports in Hamburg, KIel, Gdańsk and Gdynia.
The meeting was opened and moderated by Maciej Brzozowski, Director of the Port of Hamburg Representation in Poland. Dr. Sarah Kirchberger (ISPK) and Bogdan Ołdakowski (BPO) spoke about the challenges for maritime logistics.
The Mayor of Hamburg spoke about the special importance of Poland, and in particular the dynamic Pomerania region, on NATO’s eastern flank. The Mayor of Hamburg stated that ensuring supply security in Europe requires strategic cooperation between ports in the Baltic Sea region, which Hamburg will support to counter hybrid threats.
Speakers included Lennart Kinau (Hamburg Port Authority), Alan Aleksandrowicz (Port of Gdańsk), Andrzej Chmielecki (Port of Gdynia), and Dr. Dirk Claus (Port of Kiel).
