20th anniversary of Hutchison Ports Gdynia

2026 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Hutchison Ports Gdynia and the Gdynia Container Terminal. The anniversary meeting was chaired by Jan Jarmakowski, CEO of Gdynia Container Terminal. He also remembered GCT’s first CEO, Jrzy Czartowski.
The official launch of the Gdynia Container Terminal took place on June 17th. The official launch of the container terminal in Gdynia was attended by, among others, John Meredith, Managing Director of Hutchison Ports and one of the pioneers of global containerization. To mark the occasion, invited guests gathered at the Courdyard Gdynia Waterfront Hotel to raise an anniversary toast. Professor Marek Grzybowski, Chairman of the Board of the Baltic Sea and Space Cluster, participated in the ceremony.

Emil Rojek, Deputy Voivode of Pomerania; Leszek Bonna, Deputy Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship; Tomasz Augustyniak, Vice Mayor of Gdynia; and Clemence Cheng, Executive Director of Hutchison Ports Holdings and Managing Director of the European Division, extended congratulations to the management and staff of Gdynia Container Terminal on its dynamic growth. Eric Ip, Managing Director of the Hutchison Ports Group, delivered a message of best wishes and congratulations on achieving a high position in container turnover.
GCT is becoming one of the most important container terminals in the Baltic Sea and Poland. In 2025, the terminal achieved a record container throughput of 465,000 TEU. In 2025, after 19 years of operation, it exceeded 6 million TEU of transshipped containers since its inception. GCT receives regular services and cargoes from container ports in the North Sea and other markets. Vessels from Hapag-Lloyd, ONE, Ellerman, DP World, ZIM, and other shipowners dock at the GCT quay.
