The R7 Orzeł rocket of students from Gdańsk took 4th place in FAR-OUT 2026 in the USA.

Gdańsk University of Technology students’ R7 Orzeł rocket took fourth place in the world at the FAR-OUT 2026 international rocket competition in the USA. The R7 Orzeł rocket was built as part of a rocket project by members of the SimLE Student Research Club. The rocket was launched in the Mojave Desert in California. The R7 Orzeł rocket was fully recovered after the flight.
The R7 Orzeł rocket is an over four-meter-tall rocket capable of reaching an altitude of 3 kilometers. The rocket was designed and built entirely by Gdańsk University of Technology students. It is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system, proprietary avionics from Gdańsk University of Technology students, and a modern ground station.
The FAR-OUT 2026 competition is organized by Friends of Amateur Rocketry. Students from around the world participate in this international meeting of academic teams involved in rocket building.
Rocket launches take place at a specially prepared training ground in the Mojave Desert in California.
