Gdańsk University of Technology students build a water drone for lifeguards

Gdańsk University of Technology (PG) students are building a water drone to help rescue people in need of assistance on the water. The unmanned surface vehicle will support rescue operations at sea, on lakes, and on rivers.
The unmanned surface vehicle (USV) is a project by students of the Faculty of Mechanical and Shipbuilding Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology, implemented as part of the “Universities of the Future” initiative.
The AUV steering and control concept was designed and is being built by students Maksym Domkowski, Julian Baron, and Łukasz Gede-Niewiadomski. They are students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdańsk University of Technology.
The hull was provided to the students by Cree Yacht, a company specializing in composite products (primarily for vessels). The students have been collaborating with Cree Yacht from the very beginning of the project. Thanks to the experience of the specialists, AUV “URWIS” is being implemented to a high standard.
