Flowers on the water – in tribute to those who died at sea
A wreath of white and red flowers on the waves is dedicated to those whose lives are inextricably linked to the sea. This is the ceremony that traditionally started the celebration of the Sea Festival in Gdynia.
The Sea Festival in Gdynia began on Friday, June 16. As every year, also this time it began with a beautiful, touching tradition referring to the memory of people who connected their professional lives with the sea and who are no longer with us. This tradition is to throw a wreath in their memory. At 12:00 noon, representatives of the City Hall in the person of Joanna Zielińska, Chairwoman of the City Council of Gdynia and city councilor Zenon Roda joined the representation of the Maritime Office to jointly celebrate those who have passed away for eternal watch.
