During the meeting, the members present on-site and online reviewed the past and future activities, communication strategy, and collaborations to strengthen. It was the first General Assembly of the ENMC as an official association โ€” created on January 1st, 2023. Also, the ENMC welcomed its 12th member with Strategis – Maritime ICT Cluster โ€” Gregory Yovanof, which will represent hashtagGreece.

It was also the opportunity to discuss the ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฏ ๐—˜๐—ก๐— ๐—– ๐—š๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—”๐˜€๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—น๐˜† with the members you cannot attend in #Seville, October 4-5, 2023, as well as organizing work meetings. The ENMC discussed with SEA Europe, Christophe Tytgat, how to strengthen collaboration at the European level. They also met Josianne Cutajar, Vice-Chair of the #SEArica intergroup at the European Parliament, and shared concerns for the future of the activities. Then, the ENMC organized a dinner with close partners of the Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois asbl, the Business Club Belgium-Luxembourg (BCBL), and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, which supports the #greentransition in #shipping with #greenbonds.

During the hybrid ENMC meeting on October 5, 2023, Marek Grzybowski, President of the Baltic Sea & Space Cluster, announced that Baltic Maritime and Space Cluster (BSSC) and Blue Maritime Cluster together with the Croatian cluster have established a hub for the production of zero-emission vessels (ZEV HUB).

For three years, the Polish cluster from Gdynia and the Norwegian cluster from Aalesund, together with partners from Croatia, have been developing ZEVinnovation HUB โ€“ a hub for the production of zero-emission ships, which includes the BSSC ZEV HUB.

Its coordinator on the Polish side is CRIST. An important part of this activity is the Green Tech HUB, coordinated by the ASE Technology Group. It is a hub focused on creating onshore installations for an environmentally friendly maritime economy.

Global transport is responsible for a quarter of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Over the next three decades, the global vehicle fleet will grow from 1.2 billion to 2 billion vehicles, the number of passenger flights will increase by 130%, and the tonne-mile of cargo at sea will increase by 35%. Much of the transport will be decarbonized and emissions will be reduced by about 40% by the middle of the century. But by then, transportโ€™s share of global emissions will rise to a third, meaning the sector needs to get serious about reducing emissions in all aspects.

We can transfer our experience in building an electric ship hub to the cooperation of clusters within ENMC and create a European hub for the production of zero-emission ships.

The activities of the Polish hub for the production of zero-emission ships, coordinated by CRIST and supported by the activity of the ASE Technology Group, perfectly fit into the zero-emission program of the EU. CRIST and StoGda have electric ships in their portfolios. They can also design and build ships with hydrogen propulsion and fuel cells. ASE Technology Groupย  has hydrogen refueling installations and energy storage facilities and a system for charging the ship with electricity from the port quay. So there is something to build partnership and joint projects on.

Every year, BSSC organizes 4 conferences related to the use of space technologies in maritime industries.

BSSC can transfer our experience to develop space projects within ENMC. BSSC supported the SpaceUp Project (Horizon 2020), the aim of which was to support the development of start-ups and train their managers in the commercialization of ideas.

At the ENMC forum we can use the experience of BSSC in the implementation of the ECOPRODIGI project (2017-2020). It was funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Program, and was created to bring eco-efficiency to maritime industry processes in the Baltic Sea Region through digitalization and space technology. The project partnership aimed to do its share in helping the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) to become a frontrunner โ€˜in maritime industry digitalization and clean shippingโ€™.

BSSC’s experience in implementing the GALATEA project (Horizon 2020) – the EU’s flagship maritime project – can be transferred to the ENMC forum.

BSSC was a member of the GALATEA team. It is proud to delivered impactful results:ย ย  23 innovative projects involving 42 SMEs from 5 different EU countries have been directly supported. It represents more than 2.21 M โ‚ฌ distributed. 49 coaching services have been provided to 30 SMEs to get support on business model elaboration, technology expertise, internationalisation or funding opportunities. 4 workshops have been conducted on hot business topics, such as internationalization in support of innovation, business model elaboration, branding and communication and how to pitch your business/idea and has involved 59 SMEs. A guide for funding opportunities have been realised to offer to SMEs a broaden vision of funding opportunities at the European, national and regional level.

๐ŸŒŠ The ENMC is continuing to grow and reinforce its dynamism. We thank the Cluster Marรญtimo Espaรฑol for welcoming us to Spain and organizing these two activities days.
