MV PYXIS OCEAN, using WindWings technology, moored at the Port of Gdynia. MV PYXIS OCEAN moored at HES Gdynia Bulk Terminal. The ship transported 60,000. tons of agricultural products – informed Tomasz Pietrewicz, President of the Management Board of HES Gdynia Bulk Terminal.

WindWings are made of steel and composite. The designer informs that the ship can save up to 30% of fuel during the cruise. This will depend on the wind and weather conditions at sea.

– We had to analyze the technical conditions of the ship and its structure in order to be able to safely unload this type of ship. This is a new experience for us – says Tomasz Pietrewicz, President of the Management Board of HES Gdynia Bulk Terminal.

The Port of Gdynia is one of the largest ports in the Baltic Sea region and is also an important transport hub in the European TEN-T network. The priority of TEN-T is, among others, promoting the use of alternative, in particular zero- or low-emission, energy sources and propulsion systems – says Aleksander Wicka, head of the Marketing Department at the Port of Gdynia Authority.

The port implements initiatives related to environmental protection, sustainable development and the use of ecological technologies in port operations.
