How sea and space are related?
Sea and Space have close relationships in the maritime business, transport and global logistics. Maritime law and insurance, maritime and space business management exchange knowledge and solutions. Space technologies are used in maritime technical solutions related to the development of unmanned and autonomous ships. Ship management, planning of their optimal connections between ports, delivery of goods and containers are carried out with the support of IT and satellite technologies – says Marek Grzybowski, chairman of the board of the Baltic Sea and Space Cluster.
Controlling illegal fishing by fishermen poaching in the seas and oceans, fighting maritime piracy and attacks on ships waiting to enter the port, monitoring the weather and the state of the seas and oceans, monitoring threats to fauna and flora, sea coasts and ports, oceanological research, recovering survivors is only possible using satellite technologies that support IT and AI.
Recently, satellite technologies supported by artificial intelligence have been used intensively to track the smuggling of goods, drugs and people, ghost ships and black fleets, illegal ship-to-ship (STS) oil transshipment operations, and the transportation of stolen grains.
