Port of Gdansk increase in transshipment to 81 million tons in 2023

The Port of Gdansk exceeded the transhipment barrier in 2023. Approximately 81 million tons of bulk and dry goods were transhipped in the terminals of the Port of Gdansk. This is an increase of over 12.7 million tons compared to 2022. The Port of Gdańsk Authority recorded a net profit of PLN 224.4 million in 2023.
Grain transshipment at the Port of Gdansk grain terminals amounted to almost 3.1 million tons in 2023 (approx. 2 million tons in 2022). This resulted in an increase in agro transshipment by 60%.
37.6 million tons of fuel were pumped from tankers at the fuel terminal. This is by 47 percent. more than in 2022. Then, 25.5 million tons were transhipped through the pipelines of the fuel port in Gdańsk. Naftoport is an oil hub for the region. From Gdańsk, crude oil and other fuels are delivered to refineries in Poland and Germany.
Coal imports through the port of Gdańsk were similar to last year. Coal terminals transhipped 13.3 million tons. The largest amount of coal was imported (12.5 million tons). This is an increase of 1%. compared to 2022.
General cargo transshipment reached 22.9 million tons. Container terminals recorded a supply of cargo in containers of 20.5 million tons. This is an increase of 2.5%. Supply in the other bulk group decreased by almost 1%, to – 3.5 million tonnes.
The Port of Gdańsk Authority received nearly EUR 100 million in subsidies in 2023 under CEF 2. These funds will be allocated to the expansion of four quays of the Inner Port, with a total length of nearly 2 km. The railway infrastructure will be modernized.
