Gdańsk University of Technology in the Babcock Graduate Scheme

The Babcock Graduate Scheme it is a two-year program enabling gifted technical university graduates to do internship programs in Babcock offices, including UK. Graduates from Gdańsk University of Technology will be to obtain valuable experience within aviation, land, marine and nuclear sectors of the Babcock International Group.

Polish Armament Agency selected Babcock as the platform design provider and strategic partner for the implementation of the multi-purpose frigates program named Miecznik in March 2022.

 In connection with the Miecznik program, we are planning to invest in acquisition and development of young talents in Poland – the future staffSince the academic sector plays a key role in this process, we are very much counting on cooperation with universities in Poland, including Gdańsk University of Technology due to its potential and strategic location – said Ewa Kittel-Prejs, Country Director Poland, Babcock International.

Poland’s Miecznik programme is based on Babcock’s Arrowhead 140 Frigate design, and Babcock and PGZ plan to deliver this programme by combining their shipbuilding and equipment support capabilities. The companies will also seek opportunities to partner for other naval and wider defence programmes by optimising resources, capabilities and infrastructure across both organisations.

Currently going through latter stage commercial processes, the new Joint Venture organisation will be a further boost to UK and Polish industry collaboration and wider prosperity generation, following the recent signing of the 2030 Strategic Partnership between the UK and Poland which seeks to deepen policy, security and defence cooperation.
