In view of the future elections, the European Network of Maritime Clusters (ENMC) was present in #Brussels during a week of successful and interesting events:
➡️ “𝙈𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧: 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙀𝙐 𝙢𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩?”, one-day conference organized by the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission (DG MOVE). It discussed transport in a changing geopolitical context, the need for an inclusive and homogeneous #transport #transition, and the crucial point of #competitiveness in the EU.
➡️ “𝙏𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙙𝙚: 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚?”, an event organized by the SEARica and CPMR CRPM. This high-level discussion appealed to urgent policy and educational priority to support coastal regions and their #challenges in sectors such as transport, tourism, fisheries, and agriculture.
➡️ “𝙉𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙁𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚”, a roundtable organized by ECSA. It reminded us the importance of private and public #finance to support the shipping’s energy transition. This roundtable mentioned the urgent need of dedicated calls under the EU Innovation Fund to ensure the sector meets the #decarbonization objectives and to develop the required technologies.
💡 These events discussed different topics but were complementary and revealed the current uncertainties of the EU transport sector, especially the ones from the maritime sector and in general, of the entire Blue Economy. The European Network of Maritime Clusters (ENMC) hopes that the new EU elections will address the right messages and bring new opportunities for the different stakeholders for the competitiveness and stability of Europe.
